Award Winning Night for Haverford Homes!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Last night 10.29.10, we took home two big awards. We are so thankful to be recognized  by The Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association. Thank you!

The team of Haverford Homes and Greenhorne & O’Mara Inc., share the honor for Equestrian Estates, a single family detached residential community in Upper Marlboro, MD. Haverford and G&O successfully completed this project utilizing a cluster subdivision approach allowing for the preservation of more than 48 acres of the 95-acre site. Two in-stream stormwater management facilities were designed utilizing bio-retention and infiltration. The community is further enhanced by a hiker/biker and equestrian trail located within the stream valley that was constructed using recycled materials, including recycled concrete, natural wood chips and recycled stone. Overall, this project is an excellent example of a developer and an engineering firm working together to provide sustainable development solutions that improve the lives of the communities where we live and work.

Winning Builder of the Year-Medium volume (21 to 100 units a year) was Haverford Homes of Hyattsville, MD. Winning Builder

Haverford Homes: Why it’s good to Buy a Home Now…..

We have completed the Sewer and Water Utilities as of 9/18/10. Washington Gas is is scheduled for Monday morning, and assuming weather conditions stay dry, we will pave the first section in the last week of September.

On a side note, I thought I’d share a video from the Wall Street Journal over the last week. Brett Arends discusses why he thinks now is a particularly good time to buy a home. He raises interesting point on low mortgage rate, and reasons why it’s better to buy than rent.

September 10th 2010. Piscataway Landing. Lot 46B & 47B with anticipated deliveries in November are well underway! We are actively selling and are positive about the Fall Housing Market. This week we read news that  prices have reached levels that are attractive both to potential homeowners and developers. There is also increased activity from the homebuilders on a national level which is also helping banks unload bad commercial loans and assets they’ve been forced to absorb. This is could be one of the best times to buy according to Karl Case an economics professor at Wellesley College.
